Well due to the UK's heavy reliance on gas for heating and electricity, a new report from the Energy Crisis Commission explains that we're not as prepared as we could be should another energy crisis happen.
The Energy Crisis Commission is made up of representatives from organisations such as Citizens Advice, Energy UK and National Energy Action, and was created to look at the impact of the recent energy crisis on both homes and businesses, and to offer recommendations on measures that could improve the UK's resilience against any future crisis.
The report indicates that British households and businesses have suffered more than many other European nations due to this dependence on gas.
The UK currently ranks as the second most reliant country in the EU for gas heating and is joint fifth for gas electricity generation, with the Commission highlighting that the slow pace of improvements to the energy efficiency of damp housing, the delay of implementing new building standards and missed opportunities to expand renewable energy sources have all played a part.
One alarming finding from the report said that 'nearly one in ten businesses have had to cease operations either partially or entirely in response to rising costs.' throughout that time.
